About me
I remember the night of the 24th of September 2017 very vividly. It was the day of the German General elections, and the right-wing AfD entered the German parliament for the first time. This moment was a turning point for me. In the weeks and months before, I volunteered with the initiative Kleiner 5, where we had one goal: Keep AfD below the 5 % threshold. But we failed. The AfD had dominated the digital discourse. They utilised Facebook like no other party in Germany before, they set the main narratives and no one was ready to counter them.
Berlin
At the time, I was pursuing my Master's in Political Communication in Amsterdam, and this defeat gave me a clear mission: to equip progressive organisations with the tools they needed to unite and combat regressive forces.
I started this journey as an intern at Cosmonauts & Kings, a Berlin-based political tech startup. There, I ran surveys, ad campaigns, and developed my first own data tools, contributing to impactful campaigns at all political levels.
And then, the Covid-19 pandemic presented a new challenge. My colleagues and I found ourselves at the forefront of crisis communication, establishing the digital situation room in the Federal Ministry of Health. We used data, research, and digital tools to inform 83 million people in Germany about the worst health crisis in decades. I managed the development of Germany’s official vaccination dashboard and launched the first Telegram channel of a German ministry. My team and I tested messages, ran ad campaigns reaching millions of people, and fought misinformation which was spreading everywhere.
Brussels
In 2022, I sought a new challenge in Brussels, working for the European Green Party to prepare for the 2024 European Elections.
Now, the digital landscape has become even more complex to navigate. New AI tools, and the multitude of platforms and data sources might seem challenging for political organisations at first, but in reality, they hold great potential for organising and mobilising.
Amsterdam
After the European Election campaign, I relocated to Amsterdam where I started a new position as Digital Lead of the Fossil Free Future campaign of Greenpeace.
Today, I'm here to support those with a progressive agenda, ready to collaborate and navigate the digital toolbox for positive change. Let's work together!
Personal
I was born and raised in Gladbeck, a former coal-mining city on the northern edge of the Ruhr Valley in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. My involvement in political organisations began during my teenage years when I organised protests against nuclear power and right-wing movements. Following high school, I studied political science in Leipzig and Warsaw.
I embarked on a master's program in political communication in Bielefeld, later transferring to Amsterdam after one semester. After an internship in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, I started working for Cosmonauts & Kings and Civical, where I stayed for four years.
Then, I moved to Brussels, where I served as a Digital Data Analyst and Marketing Strategist for the European Green Party during the European election campaign. Now, I live in Amsterdam where I work for Greenpeace as Digital Lead.
I find joy in photography, both digital and analogue. I'm a loyal supporter of the glorious FC Schalke 04 football club and take pride in my skills as a goalkeeper.
